Hi, I’m Piri!

A certified Relaxed Birth and Parenting  doula, a mum of three, and someone who’s deeply passionate about helping women feel supported, heard, and empowered through pregnancy and birth.

My three births were each unique, but it was my first that left the deepest mark – it was difficult, overwhelming, and left me feeling scared and vulnerable. I didn’t feel in control, and I often wonder how different it could have been if I’d had someone knowledgeable by my side – someone to remind me I had a voice, a choice, and the right to be supported. That experience lit a fire in me. It’s why I became a doula: to be that steady, caring presence I wish I had – so you don’t have to face it all alone.

Being a mother has shaped who I am in every way. I share a deep bond with my children, and the time we spend together grounds me. They’ve taught me patience, presence, and how to grow into a more compassionate, thoughtful version of myself. Just as I’m there for them, they inspire and support me in countless ways – and that connection deeply informs how I show up for the families I support.

I believe every woman deserves to feel she has real choices, to reconnect with her body, and to trust her instincts. I’m here to offer calm, grounded guidance, evidence-based knowledge, and a safe space where you’re truly seen and heard.

My approach is gentle, intuitive, and rooted in deep respect for the power of women’s bodies. I bring a peaceful, nurturing presence to your journey – and a belief that birth can be both sacred and strong.

      Words from parents

I had the privilege of having Piri as my doula for my second birth.

As an expat without family or friends nearby to help with my eldest, it was such a relief to know my husband could be fully present for her, while I could count on Piri’s calm, steady presence by my side.

I had planned a home birth, but unfortunately no midwife was available that night, so I had to transfer to hospital – my worst fear, as I didn’t want to be without my husband and daughter.

Having Piri with me in that moment made all the difference. She knew my birth plan, respected my wishes, and supported me with such quiet strength. I was so focused during labour, but I remember looking at her sometimes – and without saying a word, her sweet smile and kind eyes told me: “You’ve got this, you’re doing so well.” That silent reassurance kept me going. She reminded me to sip my energy drink after each contraction, kept me cool with a damp towel, and never once let me feel alone.

I was able to have a completely natural water birth with no pain relief, which was everything I had hoped for.

After my baby was born, she cared for me in the most thoughtful ways – making sure I was warm and fed, buttering toast with jam, handing me tea while I bonded with my newborn.

A few days later, she even came to my home to cook a big batch of my daughter’s favourite curry, gifting me the comfort of nourishing meals in those early days.

Thank you, Piri, for being such an important part of our journey. Your support, kindness, and presence meant more than words can express. You’ll always have a special place in our hearts – and if we ever welcome a third baby, we know we’ll want you by our side again.

      Marta

Before meeting Piri I was very scared of the physical aspect of labour.

We had quite a few sessions with her leading up to my due date,

during which she provided me and my husband with helpful techniques, books and lots of information generally to help me understand my body better and to prepare for giving birth.

When the day came Piri was there to support during the whole time in a non-intrusive but warm and caring way, offering calm reassurance, practical tips, and a mother-like presence helping me in whatever way she could.

I had to have an induced labour and there was a high probability that I would end up needing a C-section.

In large part thanks to Piri’s invaluable sessions, advice and calm presence I felt I was in as much control of my body as possible and was able to give natural birth with very minimal pain relief.

Our experience with Piri exceeded our expectations and she will always have a special place in our hearts.

      Frequently Asked Questions

What is a doula? How can I benefit from having one?

A doula is a trained companion who offers emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood. I’m here to walk alongside you—helping you feel calm, confident, and in control of your experience.

Having a doula means having someone who’s truly there for you. I listen without judgement, help you understand your options, support your choices, and offer tools to ease discomfort and anxiety. Studies show that having a doula can lead to more positive birth experiences, reduced interventions, and greater satisfaction—for both you and your partner.

In short: a doula helps you feel heard, held, and empowered—wherever and however you choose to give birth.

Is a doula only for mums who want a natural or home birth?

      Definitely not.
Every birth journey is unique, and I’m here to support you—whatever your preferences, plans, or setting. Whether you’re planning a home birth, hoping for a hospital birth with pain relief, having an elective caesarean, or still exploring your options, you deserve compassionate, non-judgemental care. My role is to help you feel informed, confident, and supported—however your story unfolds.

What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?

Midwives are medical professionals who focus on the clinical aspects of pregnancy and birth. A doula offers emotional, practical, and informational support. I don’t replace medical care—I work alongside it. My focus is you—your wellbeing, your voice, your experience.

Will my partner still have a role if I have a doula?

Absolutely. A doula supports both the birthing person and their partner. I’m there to reassure, guide, and hold space—helping partners feel more confident, involved, and calm. Many partners say having a doula actually strengthened their connection during birth.

When should I book a doula?

You can book a doula at any stage of your pregnancy. Some people reach out early in the first trimester, while others connect later on. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll meet you where you are. The sooner we start, the more time we have to build a trusting connection.

What if I go into labour before 38 weeks?

While I officially go on call from 38 weeks, I stay in close contact as your due time approaches. If baby arrives early, I’ll still do my best to be there for you. We’ll also talk about this during our prenatal visits so you feel prepared and supported.

Where do you work / what areas do you cover?

I’m based in Bow, Devon and serve families across Dartmoor and surrounding areas. I’m happy to travel up to 1 hour from my home , covering towns and villages across north, mid and west Devon. If you’re not sure whether I cover your area, just get in touch—I’d love to hear from you.

What is a Mother’s Blessing ceremony?

A Mother’s Blessing is a deeply meaningful ceremony to honor a woman as she prepares for the sacred journey into motherhood. It’s a time for her closest friends and family to gather in love and support, offering words of wisdom, blessings, and gentle rituals to surround her with strength and positive energy. Unlike the usual Baby Shower in our culture, the Mother’s Blessing is a ceremony that focuses more on the mom, less on the baby. it’s all about holding space for the mother—to celebrate her, uplift her, and help her feel deeply supported as she approaches birth.

Each gathering can be its own magical experience, we can  incorporate different traditions, symbols, and rituals that reflect your personal and unique journey to make it a truly unforgettable celebration.

What activities & rituals are included in the Blessing Ceremony Package?

Each Mother’s Blessing is uniquely crafted and may include any combination of spiritual, creative, or sensory experiences. Some popular and meaningful activity options include:

🌸 Washing of the Feet – A gentle, symbolic ritual of love, respect, and nurturing.

🔮 Crystal or Bead Ceremony – Guests contribute a bead or crystal along with a blessing or intention, creating a keepsake necklace for the mother to carry into labor.

🔴 Red Thread Ceremony – A traditional ritual connecting guests to the mother through a single red thread, symbolizing their support and connection during her journey.

🎶 Singing or Chanting – Uplifting songs, lullabies, or sacred chants to create a loving and joyful atmosphere.

💆 Gentle Massage or Hand Blessing – Offering physical comfort and care as a way to honor her body and journey.

Candle gifting – Each guest is given a candle to take home, light it during the time of labour and sending their love and well wishes

🎨 Creative Crafts – (one included in the price, add more for extra)

Affirmation Card Making – Guests create cards with loving words and affirmations to inspire the mother during labor.

Collaborative Crochet Blanket – Each guest contributes a piece to a handmade blanket for the baby.

Belly Painting – A joyful, artistic way to celebrate the beauty of pregnancy.

Making bath salts with oils and herbs -for the mothers postpartum recovery.

      Guest Contributions & Support

To make the gathering even more meaningful, I will communicate with all guests ahead of time and share simple guidance on what to bring, including:

🥘 A Dish to Share – If you’d like to include a feast, guests can each bring a nourishing dish for a communal meal.

❄️ Freezer Meals – Guests can also bring a dish to freeze, offering postpartum support for the mother after birth.

💗 Sacred Items or Tokens – Guests may be invited to bring a bead, crystal, candle, flower, poem, or other meaningful item to contribute to the ceremony or altar space.

This thoughtful participation creates a deeply connected and supportive atmosphere, making the mother feel truly held and honored by her circle.
